It’s important to set your mower on a high setting (cutting too short can stress the lawn). You will get the best finish if you cut on a dry lawn and vary your mowing pattern (it stresses the lawn to cut in the same direction every time) and try and vary the days you cut on.

If you have a new lawn its best to let it establish itself, so let it grow longish before cutting. Grass clippings left on the lawn make great fertilizer and always cut with a sharp blade.
